Between May 12th and 20th, for the first time the lagoon of Venice will host two races of the America’s Cup World Series. The eleven teams will compete in two different sailing area: one is the breathtaking Saint Mark’s Basin, right in front the Doge’s Palace; the other one will be in open sea, facing the Lido Island, one of the symbol of famous events in town. The teams will base in the Venetian Arsenal, dating back to the 1100s, was originally a shipyard and naval deposit.
The America’s Cup is the oldest trophy in international sport with an over 160 year history. The race and format has changed in the past years and their focus is to bring this sailing competition to the forefront of sporting events, closer to the shore and spectators. Now super fast catamarans will engage in several 20-minute races.
BWA Yachting has been appointed as Operational Partner of the America’s Cup Superyacht Program; JLT being an Associate Partner of BWA Yachting, is ready to give assistance and support to all the yachts calling Venice for this spectacular event.
